CRA Soccer Coaches and Referees Page
The success of the CRA is in large part due to the volunteers that agree to
coach. We know that coaching requires a great commitment due to the time and
effort involved, and we want to extend a sincere THANK YOU! The parents and
players on your team sincerely appreciate all that you do to enable them to
play soccer and we hope that you find your time is gratifying as well.
Getting Started List
- Think about a team name.
There are no duplications within a league. This is first come, first serve.
- Sign up for a coaches clinic.
If you do not have a coaches license yet you need to check the date and time on
the FSA website, coaches are required to attend this clinic.
- Submit your background check.
Every year in the fall, coaches are required to submit a background check. A
copy of your valid drivers license is required. You may fax or mail this signed
form and copy of drivers license to appropriate league either PASO or FSA.
- Pick uniforms for your team.
You may pick any color you like. We cannot specify a place for you to order your
uniforms but we can give you a few suggestions. Please note that you should
also obtain vests that contrast your jersey color in the event you play a team
that is the same color. The home team must wear the vests. Cost of uniforms
should be kept to a minimum as many parents have multiple children
participating. Please see below for more information.
- Set practice times.
Make sure your practices are in a legal area. Be prepared with this information
when contacting parents for the first time.
- Check time and dates for coaches meeting.
You will receive your team roster and game ball at this meeting
- Get soccer equipment for practices.
You will be provided with 1 game ball once a year at the coaches meeting. Some
suggestions: extra balls for players who have forgotten them, 8 cones, and bibs
of contrasting color from jerseys.
- Contact parents of your players.
Don’t forget to ask sizes of their child so you can expedite your uniform order.
Contact parents as soon as you receive your roster. Email is a great way to
reach your parents, but do CALL the first time. Speaking with the parents is a
great way to introduce yourself and to give them an opportunity to ask
questions of the person who will be spending time with their child.
UNIFORMS
Teams are responsible for acquiring their own uniforms. Please ask your player’s
parents to help find a sponsor for your team to help reduce the cost of
uniforms. There is a wide range of uniform prices so please keep in mind that
more expensive does not necessarily mean better quality.
Step #1. Pick a purchase location and style of uniform.
Step #2. Let the team know the amount per uniform that they need to pay.
Collect uniform sizes and money from parents.
Step #3. The coach or team manager orders the entire team's uniforms at
once. Suggested locations include Celina Sports and those listed on the
